In January 2025, OMEP WA proudly delivered 220 School Starter Kits to 49 schools across Perth, ensuring that young children had the essential school supplies to begin Year 1 journey. This initiative, supported by generous donations and community efforts, exemplifies our commitment to fostering quality education for young children.
Each School Starter Kit included an eco-friendly library bag filled with essential items such as a scrapbook, glue sticks, scissors, coloured pencils, twistable crayons, and writing pencils. Additional contributions from Perth College Junior School and the Northside Christian Community Church in Joondalup significantly enhanced the project’s impact, reflecting the spirit of community support and collaboration.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Perth College Junior School, Mrs. Lisa McLean, and the Year 2 class for their dedicated efforts in collecting and packing 60 School Starter Kits. Special thanks also go to the Northside Community Church for their overwhelming generosity, which enabled us to provide even more kits to support many families and carers experiencing financial hardship.
The success of this project was made possible through the generous donations of OMEP Australia, Oceanic Bio (WA), Meredith Hammatt (MLA – Mirrabooka), Amber-Jade Sanderson (MLA – Morley), Naomi McLean, Ayor Makur Chuot (MLC – North Metro), and Girl Guides West. Their support underscores the importance of community involvement in ensuring every child’s access to a quality education.
The School Starter Kit Project 2025 exemplifies the power of collective action in creating positive educational experiences for young learners. OMEP WA remains committed to advancing educational equity and supporting children’s development as they begin their formative schooling.
