Each year OMEP WA provides school starter kits to young children from needy families attending Year 1 of primary school without the required materials.

Each kit contains at least 2 bumper scrap books, scissors, glue stick, 3 formative 2B writing pencils, a packet of coloured pencils and a packet of screw-top crayons, all housed in an attractive library bag. Kits are sourced, packaged and delivered to schools by committee members in readiness for the first school day to ensure a positive start to each child’s school year.

This project has been facilitated by OMEP WA for the past 21 years. Acknowledgement is made of significant donations of stationery materials by Norm Majors of Wooldridges and more latterly by Officeworks, as well as donations of library bags by the Swan River Trust and ALCOA.
