OMEP Australia is thrilled to announce our recent collaboration with SolarBuddy, a partnership aimed at bringing light and hope to children in need. Together, we are providing JuniorBuddy lights to children in rural and remote Indigenous communities, as well as to children living in communities experiencing energy poverty in the Asia Pacific region.
Empowering Communities with Light
SolarBuddy’s mission to provide solar lights to those without reliable electricity aligns perfectly with OMEP Australia’s vision to enhance the well-being of children through education and care. By joining forces, we aim to make a significant impact on the lives of many children, improving their safety, health, and educational opportunities.

Contributions to Maternal and Child Health
As part of this collaboration, OMEP Australia is donating 5 StudentBuddy kits to be used in maternal and child health clinics. These kits will provide essential lighting, enabling better healthcare services for mothers and their children, particularly in remote areas where access to electricity is limited.
Supporting Education and Advocacy Events
We are also proud to donate 50 Junior Buddy lights to be used at the upcoming Education Conference: Realising the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through Early Education and Global Citizenship, taking place on 27th July at Murdoch University. Additionally, these lights will be featured during Children’s Week 2024, from 19th to 27th October, organized by Children’s Rights Queensland. These events underscore the importance of education and global citizenship in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
